Simon qualified in 1992 at Liverpool University Dental Hospital and stayed on in the city to further his Specialist training in oral surgery. Whilst learning, he completed extensive research into 3D analysis of the head and neck, and tumour mapping using MRI. He is passionate about utilising dental technology to enhance patients’ treatment journeys and to reduce the impact on the environment wherever possible.
Simon is an international Key Opinion Leader for digital dentistry. He lectures across the UK and Europe on business and clinical aspects of digital dentistry and workflows and digital implantology.
Simon is also chair of the PEERS Digital Dentistry group in the UK. He is also a beta tester for Dentsply Sirona, testing new technology software and materials, which he says “keeps the mind working”.
At Dutch Barton Dental Practice, Simon offers patients oral surgery, general dental treatments and implants. When he took over the practice in 2007, it was well-established with a loyal patient base but in desperate need of modernisation. Simon therefore combined his passion for traditional dentistry with modern technology to update the existing equipment, introduce new treatments and techniques.
Outside of work, Simon is a rugby coach and school governor.
Digital imaging has evolved from an optional technology into an essential component of modern dental diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient communication. This lecture will demonstrate how integrating a complete digital workflow enhances clinical accuracy, improves efficiency, and delivers predictable restorative outcomes.
Drawing on extensive clinical experience, Dr Simon Fieldhouse will illustrate how contemporary digital dentistry can be seamlessly implemented using the complete CEREC workflow, from digital data acquisition with Primescan, through CAD/CAM design and chairside manufacturing with Primemill, to rapid sintering and final restoration with SpeedFire. Attendees will gain practical insights into how digital imaging supports comprehensive treatment planning, facilitates same visit restorations, and enhances collaboration across the restorative workflow.
Through real clinical cases and practical examples, participants will discover how adopting digital imaging not only improves precision and patient experience, but also streamlines daily practice, making high quality, minimally invasive, and efficient dentistry an achievable standard for contemporary clinicians.
Chairside CAD/CAM dentistry has transformed restorative practice, making it possible to deliver highly aesthetic, durable, and precise indirect restorations in a single appointment. This hands-on workshop, led by Dr Simon Fieldhouse, will demonstrate how integrating a complete digital workflow can improve clinical efficiency, patient experience, and treatment predictability.
Participants will follow the entire chairside restorative process using the latest CEREC workflow, from digital impression with Primescan, through restoration design and milling with Primemill, to crystallization and glazing with SpeedFire, followed by adhesive delivery. The workshop will highlight clinical protocols, case selection, preparation guidelines, material selection, and practical tips that enable clinicians to consistently produce high quality restorations with minimal adjustments.
By combining evidence-based principles with real-world clinical experience, attendees will gain the confidence to incorporate same-day digital restorations into everyday practice, enhancing workflow efficiency while delivering precise, functional, and aesthetic outcomes for their patients. The clinical benefits of chairside CAD/CAM workflows include improved precision, reduced operator dependent errors, and the ability to provide high quality restorations in a single visit for appropriately selected cases.

The aim of root canal therapy is to maintain the tooth in place and bring to the best prognosis the healing of a lesion of endodontic origin and preventing its recurrence. Maintaining the results in time means an immediate buildup and isolation of the root canal system from coronal leakage, while assuring the ideal resistance and adherence of the buildup.
During this presentation we will focus on the role of the endodontist to provide the ideal restorative conditions. The participants will be able to distinguish the ideal post space, well cleaned and adapted to the needs of the restoration conditions. We will also develop the adequate post and building material.
ProTaper Ultimate is a rotary, motor-driven file, with particular design and dynamics of motion. The necessity for shaping narrow, long and curved canals implies special considerations in file design and action. Although based on the same principles of shapers and finishers within the same set of files, the advanced design has contributed to reduce the number of files and to control the original shape while amplifying the canal space.
During this presentation and workshop, the participants will discover the adequate dynamics of each file, its indication according to the clinical case, and the profit of using a specific file with particular design to improve the quality of shaping in concordance with the degree of curvature, calcification, or resorbed or damaged canals due to shaping mishaps.

Dr Marco Martignoni graduated cum laude at the University of Chieti, Italy. He runs a private clinic in Rome devoted primarily to endodontics, pre-prosthetic core build-up, restorative procedures and prosthodontics under the operatory microscope.
